Is having hundreds of lab mice inherently illegal?
ETA: Nevermind … less story to read than anticipated from Ars. I did audibly laugh at the big break in the case being a code violation for a garden hose. That’s like movie-level “how were they competent enough to pull the rest of this off, only to be foiled by a hose?” entertainment.
If done covertly without care for animal welfare it probably is, or I think it should be. Animal drug testing is already ethically dubious with oversight…
This story is so light on details it’s absolutely spooky.
Either they weren’t operating for long or there’s “more” to the story that’s under a Federal Gag Order.
