Hi, I just started trying to blog (video games opinion and I suppose it could fall under reviewing as well) and I feel a bit overwhelmed thinking whether it feels “correct” or if it is missing something.

Currently it is just writing with pictures with it linked where I took it from on the title text option on the images and the publishing that.

Is there any sites or resources one can recommend for reading?

I am more than willing to read any advice anyone would like to share as this is still very new for me.

I am using Blogger, so if there is any tips anyone would like to share in regards to the platform, I am also willing to read those as well.

      Thank you,

I will take the advice, I will admit it is difficult for me to just do. I guess what I am do with blogging is a new experience and I am in uncharted waters so to speak which is probably why I have anxiety over it.

I guess with time I will get more comfortable and start to understand better what my needs would be and will have a better idea what I would need to ask

whether it feels “correct” or if it is missing something

What’s your goals? What are your concerns?

What specifically do you want impression or assessment on?

You created a blog, and created posts. That’s blogging. If your goal was to blog, then “it” is “correct”.

If I had to think, I enjoy games and writing about it is filling a hole where I can not afford to do so.

It is probably a coping mechanism, but writing about the games that have left an impression on me does make me feel better - expressing things in my head and directing that into something tangilble that I can see and read.

Concerns being coming off very amatuer or low effort. Thinking that I am missing things that are considered standard, esential in integration or some other things that is expected on a blog. Also the question of adsense as I do feel conflicted on and so far avoided it because I feel that is something that I should consider after I have put significant effort into the blog but then not sure if that will significantly worsen the user experience.

In reflection I feel I want to share with people what I have found to be enjoyable and try to express a positive impression why I found it enjoyable. I do try and limit myself because I do have a tendency to narrow in on specific instances and try to write in a way that it is more generalised to avoid spoiling content to it when I notice.

Seems I am excessively over-thinking things and should just continue on what I have been doing and organically improve as I go instead of trying to find all the answers up front.

Thank you for the questions, it is helpful that I can look at the problems and try deconstruct it - confront the the questions one could say.

Yeah, keep writing, and remain mindful, maybe revisiting what you wrote and how you approach things every dozen.

As for ads, I doubt you’ll make much, given that you’re just starting out. For me it wouldn’t be worth it to include. But whether it’s there is secondary to content and layout.

Even without an audience or growth writing has upsides. Can be for yourself, but also support mindful or critical thinking, and being able to express and write in general.

          Thank you for the advice

I have made a whole bunch of ideas and I sit with for a bit and if I cannot find something I am happy with I shelve it and try something else to write about. I can apply that advice to that as well and of course revise once I feel I can improve on what I have written.

That is a fair assessment and I will continue along the current way that I am doing now in regards to ads ( leaving it off)

I do agree with the upside of writing, it is something that is helping me mentally and I guess with experience I can develop my own style and way of expression and improve it over time

Consider creating a space to write without the worry of it being correct or finished so you can pull from that source for the things you want to revise or recognize or recreate into something “publishable”. This could be a blog on something like mataroa.blog or bear.blog or it could be a folder on your computer or a git repo or a physical notebook. Whatever works for you.

              Thank you

I had a quick look on the links provided, it has good samples on both the links and I am assuming less bloat as well.

It also seems to have better usability and available features but I think I would need to be more knowledgable to make use of it all as there are things I am not familiar with.

However it is useful information and something I can look for further reading and to get ideas at improving

Those links were kinda irrelevant to the suggestion to have a separate space where you don’t worry about what you write or how you write it or if it makes sense.

I think I am doing something like that at the moment, I wrote a whole lot of ideas - just having a name and saved it as unpublished posts. I look at the list, select something and try writing about it - if it starts feeling like it is not working out I stop, save it and have it as an unfinished work for when I can have a better idea what to do with it.

It has been helping me with writing a topic and choosing one I enjoy writing about - I then publish what I find acceptable and then it works as a proof that I am doing something and can be adjusted at a later time, have works in progress that didn’t work out how I planned and then a whole list of ideas I can try work on so I have so I also have something to look at and work on.
