Now that Borderlands has hit the “streaming” services in high quality, I’ve watched it.

It’s reasonable for a second screen show at 2x speed in the background. It might even get some popularity over time.

    Notable moments:

    • Opening scene where the Bounty Hunter HARD THROWS the mcguffin under a bed in a terrible “fumble”
    • Acid being sprayed on mooks in the mine and one of them says “I regret everything”
    • hologram masks are pretty cool

The “new” claptrap voice could be closer to the original, i need that highly nasial delivery to really sell how annoying he is.

The end of the film makes zero sense, real made for tv after school special vibes, but thats ok for second screen content - Or maybe they can screen this at school when substitute teachers need to occupy a class

Does the film offer anything at all to people not familiar with the games?

I’ll often watch terrible things just to see how bad they are but not without some other push to get me interested.

Honestly, it’s better if you don’t know anything about the games.

At least you don’t have expectations that can be disappointed. If you don’t know anything about the lore, then everything just is kind of oh and this and oh and this and oh and this and oh and this and oh my god that

I started watching this last night. Something felt really off about the whole movie, the way it looked, the way it was edited, and the actors all seemed like they didn’t know what movie they were in. I got about 10-15 minutes in til whatever scene has Cate Blanchett hand to hand fighting with someone and dodging punches and stuff and just turned it off lol.

I know what you mean, it felt like a after school special. The first thing I really noticed that was “off” was the rusted metal doors… the rust looked painted on, and just didn’t feel right.

        the rust looked painted on

Yeah that is usually how set design works.

The point the above user is trying to make is that it shouldn’t look like it’s painted on, it should look like actual rust. Their screenshot looks like a high school art project lol.

I just watched it. I played just a bit of the first game long ago.

It was okay. It looks good and is colorful, but not funny or interesting as much as I wanted it to be. I didn’t really enjoy any of the characters that much. I kept wanting to watch Twisted Metal series again.
