New AM4 processors just dropped.
Why?
The AM4 plattform is still a very good plattform, with many years of service left.
I would not be surprised if these CPUs end up in enterprise machines, or as new chips for the large market of used components, I mean AMD has a massive market of AM4 motherboards after selling them for almost a decade.
I could aslo see them selling very well outside the western hemisphere, as cheaper but still very capable CPUs.
They already had the 5600 and 5600x and they’re only 100mhz slower. And at least at launch those CPUs are significantly cheaper. From the article the xt is $192.08 currently, and the 5600x is $125.50
You make some excellent points, I wonder if they are planning on retiering the old skus and streamline production of the 5000 range
