The two federal cases are being shut down, Jack Smith is retiring, and there’s no way the Georgia case goes forward if a literal conviction is paused.

    What makes you think this is over?

    This is exactly what you’d expect if the judge wants to sentence Trump to jail. He can’t do it now, it would be immediately overturned by the SCOTUS.

    So he has no choice but to wait until 2029 (or possibly sooner, in the unlikely event that Trump is impeached again).

        Of course they do. To name just one example, in Bush v Gore the SCOTUS overturned a ruling made by the Florida Supreme Court.

        Unless someone keeps appealing to a higher court and non along the way reject it, you can always reach the supreme court.

      Trump can’t get impeached until 2027 at the soonest because of the Republican controlled House.

      Even then, the Senate will prevent his removal.
