I just started Oshi no Ko with not much expectations. About 40 minutes into the first episode I thought, damn this is a pretty long one. Turns out it was an hour and a half introduction to the actual show. What did you all think of the episode? Did you watch the rest of the series?
I never watched it. I had to look it up, and it seems to have an interesting premise. It’s on my “to-download” pile now.
The anime it’s not finished yet. The last episode will air today. I read the manga since it began publishing so I pretty much knew what’s going to happen, but it was nice to watch animated.
The thing with Ai, is that I think she’s pretty annoying and fake as an idol (this is intentional, I think) but I absolutely respect her as a person and as a mother.
Abortion isn’t exactly taboo in Japan (heck, several hundred years ago it was common practice to yeet babies as soon as they were born if the family thought they wouldn’t be able to care for it) so she 100% could have done it if she wanted. But she really wanted to give a chance to these kids to have a normal life, even if she was a busy showbiz woman, something that she couldn’t have.
I would have to say some spoilers if I wanted to keep going but yeah. I recommend reading the manga.
I really enjoyed it. I do like/care for idol culture, but the shows drama is what made it interesting.
I enjoyed it and finished the series. I haven’t read the manga yet, but I have read the latest 2 chapters so all I can say on that is “Incest Ahoy!”
I don’t think it quite lived up to the expectations set by the first episode. To be fair, I don’t think many anime could: this had one of the best pilots. Overall season 1 was fantastic, one of my favorite shows of all time.
Since it got so popular, it is really funny to see the general audience be so conflicted about the
insignificant spoiler
incest and underage themes
despite it being a common trope.
(PS: Is there a way to do inline spoilers yet?)
Really enjoyed it, Episode 1 got me hooked and I really like the soundtrack both Idol and Mephisto.
