Nice visual breakdown of the estimated content of the universe from Visual Capital’s website.
Cool poster! Though I think dark energy (and possibly dark matter) will be seen by future generations like we see luminiferous ether or epicycles today.
Agreed, I think the same. We just don’t know what that stuff is yet. It could be a bunch of different things we haven’t discovered because we can’t measure it yet. Who knows. Fun to think about.
Space infographics like this are my jam. I could look at these all day, thanks for sharing :)

You’re bundled up with the rest of us in “heavy elements”
😆
Yeah, but he’s a super small part. Most of what makes up the heavy elements total is his mom.
under “Dark Energy” the caption reads, “theoretical form of energy… behaves the opposite of gravity”.
then why does it not also list gravity as a basic component of the universe?
Gravity is not the only basic component of the universe. What they are saying is that dark energy pushes things apart. It behaves in the opposite manner of the gravity we are familiar with.
so if it doesnt behave like matter and just like an opposite force of gravity, why dont we call it a force?
