At least five possible hate crime incidents at Stanford University since the Israel-Hamas war’s onset are under investigation, including an apparent hit-and-run crash involving an Arab Muslim student, according to the university’s public safety department.
The student was struck by a car Friday afternoon, authorities said.
“The victim reported that the driver made eye contact with the victim, accelerated and struck the victim, and then drove away while shouting, ‘f*** you people,’” according to a news release from the Stanford Department of Public Safety.
Great. We have people attacking Muslims and people attacking Jews in the U.S. over of the same war they had nothing to do with. Because apparently American Jews are responsible for Israel and American Muslims are responsible for Hamas.
Never understood why people do things like that. It’s not like the Jews living here are intelligence operators for Israel or something. It makes no sense.
It’s a stupid people thing. Stupid people make no sense.
Every time. When 9/11 happened, there was a Sikh murdered in retaliation.
Stupid people can’t make that differentiation. And there are lots of stupid people whenever something like this happens.
COVID: All Asian people were spreading the disease
9/11: Anti-muslim attacks
Hell, there was a restaurant in DC that had the name, “Russian” in it and it was vandalized when Russia first invaded Ukraine.
9/11: Anti-muslim attacks
Or when they were attacking Sikhs. Some Sikhs were like, “Um, we’ve kinda been hating Muslims for longer than you.”
But did they condemn the actions of people they don’t know from a place where they don’t live?
How can Deep Dish do this
Per the article
”the driver muttered something about c/politics on Lemmy before hitting the victim.”
/s
bystander heard the driver shout “Long live r/worldnews!”

That is definitely more likely.
When you do it with a gun, the headline says “murdered.”
When you do it with a car, the headline says “struck in hit-and-run.”
Sure, they’re investigating it as the deliberate hate crime it is, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a car-apologist double-standard.
Focusing on the wrong issue here bud, yes cars bad, but read the room.
The person hit didn’t die, though? No one was “murdered.”
The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, the university said.
Attempted murder, then.
Next time, at least read the article before Kool-Aid manning in with your pet issue.
