The deputy head of Hamas, the Palestinian group which rules Gaza, has been killed in a blast in Lebanon, a senior Hamas official has told the BBC.
Local media said Saleh al-Arouri was killed in an Israeli drone attack in the south of the capital, Beirut.
At least three other people were reportedly also killed in the incident. Israel has not commented.
Very very good
Can someone ELI5 how come when Israel is killing people abroad it is all OK but when Russia is doing the same everyone is outraged?
I mean what happened with international law, the right of every human being of getting a fair trial, and you know other pretty basic human rights?
Russia has gone full conventional invasion. This was a single drone strike. It is more equivalent to Ukraine sending teams to Africa to fight Wagner (this is actually happening by the way).
I am talking about the poisoning of Scripal for example, but there were also other notable killings. And the international outcry after that was enormous and now is more like shrugging off shoulders, I don’t see anyone really objecting to the impunity Israel is having in those cases. And that’s what I call double standards.
Ah, that makes more sense.
The way they tried to assassinate Skripal put the general public into a panic over radioactivity poisoning, and people are fucking outraged over Israeli terrorism. Maybe it’s time to find some new circles.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Mr Regev stopped short of confirming Israel carried out the assassination, a standard position for Israeli officials, but told MSNBC: "Whoever did it, it must be clear that this was not an attack on the Lebanese state.
On that day, waves of Hamas gunmen invaded Israel and attacked communities around the border, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking around 240 to Gaza as hostages.
Lebanon’s state news agency said Arouri was killed by an Israeli drone attack on a Hamas office in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh on Tuesday night.
A witness from the Reuters news agency saw firefighters and paramedics gathered around a high-rise building where there was a large hole in what appeared to be the third floor.
Mr Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political wing, called the attack a “cowardly… terrorist act, a violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, and an expansion of its circle of aggression”.
Arouri was also considered the de facto leader of Hamas’s military wing in the West Bank, overseeing attacks there, according to Israeli media reports.
The original article contains 674 words, the summary contains 175 words. Saved 74%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Those Hamas leaders in Qatar should be getting pretty nervous about now.
