  • When I managed in restaurants, I made it a policy to not give freebies to assholes - the more shameless they were the more of a dick id be about it, to the point of loudly comping deserts or giving diacounts to tables for “being such a pleasure to have dine with us.”

Sometimes id give a nearby table a 10% off (a discretionary ‘whenever’ discount we had programmed in, usually unde locals/ friends or similar) then ‘apologizing’ for the disruption caused to their experience.

It worked, too. Had some of the most well known ‘difficult customers’ in town trained to being over the top nice to my staff, in hopes of getting the discount. I also had a lot of the die hard assholes to the point where theyd just leave if they saw me working because they knew their crap wasnt going to play.

  • It doesnt make sense to me because of the sandal, and the metal creasing with her arched foot like a sock, but if shes got metal soles on the feet of her armor, why does she need a second, partially detached sole?

Some of the other details dont make sense in an early ai sort of way, like the hinge reinforcement on her right elbow. If she bends her arm more does it poke into her flesh? Is her arm just locked on her hip? Same thing in the back of the knees.

It almost seems more lime its a cyborg body with just a human head, than a suit of armor with a body inside.

that shield the shield around the arm thing feels off too. It seems like its fixed to the gauntlet, or too tight to slide up her arm, so whats that second grip for?

Ive known some precocious young ones who could give him a run for his money

4 years ago, I was at a beach party, and stepped down to the water to be downwind of the group for a smoke. My best friends 6 year old walks up to me and asks “can I have a smoke?”
I tell him no way, hes way too young for such a bad habit. “But my parents let me smoke, all the time”

"Yeah right, they dont even smoke anymore (quit before his older sister was born)

“When we went to Russia. They let me smoke there. Everybody smokes there. Id have one after the sauna, and one after dinner each night.”

It was true. They had just got back from russia, a couple months ago. (They were actually there visiting the wife’s parents when the war broke out. Whole family managed to escape though, to a relatives home in Bulgaria, and her mom was in the process of emigrating to the US, although I think thats on hold because shes not sure Trumps America is better than Putins russia)

I knew the grandparents smoked, and dont know enough about Russian culture, so it might be plausible. I know the kids had been offered a shot of vodka, and had spit it out.

I ended up reiterating he was way too young for such a gross habit, and we went back up to the party. When I told his parents, they had a laugh about it. He would sit around after dinner / sauna with the men, and have a candy cigarette while they all smoked. She also added hed gotten way better at lying over that month.

  • That also makes sense from a tech standpoint. Ocean salmon aren’t safe for sushi, they have have too many parasites. You need to either catch them from the river they spawn in before they get to the ocean for the first time, or from a lake, which iirc Japan didnt have any lakes with salmon populations. (Harvesting from streams at scale is also a bad idea, because they wont have had a chance to breed so youre going to be killing off a portion of the population)

Even then its dicey; for raw, you really want farmed salmon, that are bred in a tank, with no parasites in the water.

So it wasnt until global shipping and really the rise of factory farmed fish, that safe enough populations of salmon existed.

  • Sounds way more consistent than any halucinogen with a common theme that people see. Like DMT makes people see the ‘machine elves’ but afaik it’s well less than 50% of people / experiences who see them, and they take wildly different forms for different people. I also think a lot of that is psychosomatic- people going into an experience expecting to see something specific will sometimes synthesize that experience for themselves.

The effects of deleriants tend to be more reliable, from my understanding, like dramamine making people see people who aren’t there / are dead. Which was a really uncanny experience when i tried it; youre not hallucinating the experience, but rather the memory of it having just happened, almost like waking up from a dream over and over. Like id looks up at the empty chair in my room and think ‘wasnt my brother just there talking about walking in the woods? Oh wait, he couldnt have been, he passed away 3 years ago’ i also kept hallucinating a cigarette, like id think I had just had ine between my fingers, had just taken a drag, and go to take another, then think I must have dropped it, only to realize there was no smoke in the room, I was just falsely remembering.

I suspect these mushrooms have a mild deleriant compound in them, although even then were talking very consistent results.

  • I still have some cds my high school gf burned for me…

She was soon after diagnosed scizophrenic. Jesus told her to burn all her rock music because it was evil. He apparently told her this thst morning while bathing in her coffee cup. After she’d done her collection st showed up at my house and started burning mine, so I wouldn’t go to hell either.

  • Friend was offered $80k to head up a new middle school Spanish esl dept, witb 2 other teachers. A month before school was to start, they set a date to finalize the contract. They’d never even interviewed for the 2 other teachers. They wanted her to see all 350+ kids 2x a week. And the salary had dropped to $21.6K, which is the state minimum wage of 15$ for 180 8hr days. This is in a super high COL town- the grocery store starts at $27 an hour, and $2k a month rent is a steal.

She laughed at them an walked. Had a job for 38 an hour in a construction firm’s office in 2 days (where Spanish fluency is a marketable skill dental a high esl labor force)

The schools response was the admin in charge of her hiring trying to throw her under the bus. She wrote an OP ED to the paper calling my friend out by name (which was blacked out by the paper per their agreement- it was so bad the paper reached out and asked her permission to print it- she agreed, with her name redacted and a promise theyd print her rebuttal as op Ed the following week) they tried to blame her for backing out last minute leaving them in the lurch, and claiming it was her unwillingness to teach that was to blame for their lack of a proper esl dept despite almost 1/3 of the students being esl.
