Butterbee (She/Her)@beehaw.orgto WomensStuff@lazysoci.al•Wednesday wins... what's gone right for you this week?English3·7 days agoI plant small amounts of each one so it’s manageable! It’s a lot of work a couple of times a year when you’re getting it all set up and then harvesting and cleaning it out, but most of the time plants are just out there growing their best life.
Azul Crescent spotted in the wild? :D

I’ve seen those kick ass women posts too, absolutely great stuff. I hope you’re able to cram in all the reading you can, or somehow save a copy of what you can’t before you lose access to those journals! That is a really great resource to have available.

I’ve got tomatoes, strawberries, some raspberry canes, and green onions and chives growing happily. :)

I can’t handle loud spaces, especially social gatherings where there is chatter echoing throughout the room. I get so overloaded I have to leave and find quiet spaces to calm down.

It’s short, snappy, and cuts to the simple matter that despite all of the complexities surrounding feminism this is essentially what it’s about.

Butterbee (She/Her)@beehaw.orgto Entertainment@beehaw.org•Hollywood Is Cranking Out Original Movies. Audiences Aren’t Showing Up.English15·23 days agoI’ve never heard of “Drop”. Culture has changed a lot in the last 20 years and how we learn about new movies is largely being fed the list of movies we are going to hear about by an algorithm. Granted, I’m specifically avoiding that kind of thing, but for most people they are going to hear about it on Tiktok or Youtube or Shiznab or Fwuhungo or wherever the kids these days hang out. - Shakes fist at clouds - And simply “cranking out original movies” isn’t good enough anyway. Are they good movies? Because people will talk about them if they are good. And sometimes even being good isn’t enough if the current social climate just isn’t into what the movie is doing. Movies at their very best are art, and a lot of the best ones flopped at the box office, only to be rediscovered years later. idk where I’m going with this… just rambling and also I still have no interest in slop or infinite sequels.
Butterbee (She/Her)@beehaw.orgto WomensStuff@lazysoci.al•What do you associate with Easter? Any meaning?English2·24 days agoUsually turkey or a ham with a spread of roasted or steamed veggies. My brother likes to make deviled eggs, so he brings those over. It’s simple, but I love the ritual of it! For the fall and winter family meals I also like to make a cauliflower casserole which is layers of cauliflower, sour cream, and Hungarian sausage. That feels too rich for a spring meal though.
Butterbee (She/Her)@beehaw.orgto WomensStuff@lazysoci.al•What do you associate with Easter? Any meaning?English5·25 days agoFor me it was always just chocolate and the family meal. And now it’s that, plus a way to mark the seasons I suppose.
Butterbee (She/Her)@beehaw.orgto WomensStuff@lazysoci.al•Womens weekend positivity... what's a really happy memory?English2·25 days agoI’m trans and shortly after I came out to my Mom I asked her what baby girl names she had picked out for me when she was expecting. During her pregnancy her doctors had told her she was going to have a girl, and turns out they were right! So I wanted to choose a name for myself from the options she had come up with at the time. So I got to pick a name that I loved, and she still got to name her daughter. It’s one of my happiest memories!

Butterbee (She/Her)@beehaw.orgto British Columbia@lemmy.ca•Marketshare by Politcal Party BC 3/4/2025English4·1 month agoIn my riding CPC is projected “likely” to win. When I moved here it was the place that consistently voted green party and now it’s conservative. Crazy. And all the left needs to do is not split the vote. I don’t particularly care which party wins my riding as long as it’s not the CPC, but they are most likely going to win even though only 35% of the people support them. Frustrating.
There would be a mix of profound excitement, and profound disappointment.
