No problem with gated progression here, as long as it’s at my own pace. Get better gear to do more difficult content to get better gear is fine, but when it’s “you have to do these 3 things each week, plus these two things each day”, it sucks. Games that make you regress when you don’t play need to rethink that for those of us with limited time. If it’s only worth playing if you play a lot, then I’m out.

An alternative is to ask for a lower power level in the game while you start out. You could suggest everyone play with a stock preconstructed deck, for example.

As for scooping, if they don’t like it maybe they should realise that you are not having fun and it’s not cool for them to demand their fun at your expense. A healthy group is where everyone is having fun. Storytime: a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away) one friend and I started playing the Star Wars CCG. He chose Empire and I chose Rebels. After he bought all the top tier singles, I got predictably crushed every game and now neither of us play.

Glad it’s not just me that thinks there’s too much exposition in games that don’t need it e.g., Doom. The good writers understand the medium and the story unfolds through play but the bad ones make you read walls of text. If I wanted so many words I’d read a book.

I have an M4 Mini with 16GB and I don’t think the additional cost for the extra 8GB is worth it. Save your money for another release. The 16GB version will last a long time, of course depends what you are doing with it.
