There’s been runs of new plastic cases by some companies. I considered getting one and putting modern parts inside as a project, but didn’t have the cash at the time. Could be something like that.

Now I realize that companies were promoting that idea so they’re be a surplus of programmers competing with each other and companies could underpay and swap out workers quickly.
Talk to the subsistence farm in Africa who’s annual rainfall is getting disrupted or Islanders like the people of Tuvalu who have to evacuate because their homes are too close to sea. How much CO2 have they put into the atmosphere?
No, climate change is fucking over the poor now. If it’s not fucking you over, you’re not as poor as you think you are.
If you think high gas prices are terrible for the poor, wait till you see how climate change will effect the poor

Ever notice how any time a Chinese app gets highlighted as being for data harvesting, there’s a bunch of people crawling out of the woodwork to claim “whatabout american apps!?”, but whenever an American app gets the same exposer, noone ever goes “whatabout Chinese apps apps!?”
Highly personalized, targeted ads are more dangerous because they can create tailor made political ads. This was happening with Cambridge Analytica and it’s why having any political discussion online is impossible anymore because you’re never really sure what the other person “knows” anymore. Before that shit, everyone got the same speeches, news and ads.
You also have the blackmail factor. I do consider Chinese officials getting blackmail material on American politicians and businesses more dangerous then American companies doing the same. It’s a small margin, but there is a difference.
The best I can do is minimize how much they get from me, give them bad data and block any ads. The few times I see targeted ads seems to imply they think I’m a conservative woman. Who the hell else would want Concern Carry Yoga Pants?
These data harvesting creating fake profiles to sell to ad companies are not my concern. Let these shit companies cheat each other.

Considering the few times I’ve seen targeted ads, it’s never actually relevant to me, I doubt their profile of me is in anyway accurate.
I use blockers so facebook doesn’t know what websites I’m visiting.

And if I don’t use facebook?
I don’t even think I use websites that would use that. The only “app” like that is google using my phone for new logins. Every other 2fa uses my email. If it’s not a google service, I’d prefer not to have to use an app because I treat my whole phone as insecure.
If your email is compromised, isn’t 2FA also compromised?
I just use strong, unique passwords and be mindful when something is asking for my logins.

Not what I actually said. I was talking about protests. The leaders, even if they know violence might be necessary, will not openly advocate for it. They will speak with a degree of plausible deniability. Or they’re John Brown.
Personally, I feel that the civil rights movement was a significantly more polarized and divisive time for the American people. The movement we need today has significantly less people standing in the way from my perspective.
What is your perspective worth? Where you there in the 60s? From an academic perspective, it looks the same.
Oh no.
