There is a youtuber that ate some, he also talks (and tries) a lot of natural drugs. While I’d never recommend someone do it, almost anything is toxic in the right dosages (even water).

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Well, hello waterfox and librewolf
202·2 days agoAll those things they listed I would also consider selling my data. Even if you are offering my info in exchange for peanut butter cookies, you are trading it for something else.
Totally not trying to sow discourse but I don’t think the person you are replying meant that any meaningful search has occurred beyond our planet. I believe they may have just been saying that over the course of human history so many people have been trying to prove it and none of them have made any real progress.
Now we have museums showing people living with dinosaurs because enough people wouldn’t believe the bones were buried by the devil to test our faith… I’m all up for any evidence someone has, history is terrifying beautiful, and the bible has some interesting stories, but it doesn’t seem very grounded in this reality (personal opinion I suppose).

Lifehacks@sh.itjust.works•You can use Fibonacci numbers to approximately convert miles to kmEnglish
61·7 days agoI never understood the use of yards for exits over there, but the hardest part was figuring out what my GP meant when he said I needed to lose a couple ‘stones’… C’mon, you can’t expect me to learn imperial, metric, and whatever the hell that is.
I’m already stuck having to be able to convert between elephants and F-250’s because my homeland REFUSES the metric system, now I have to study geology just to figure out how unhealthy I am (actually was, I’ve lost 40lbs since then).

13·8 days agoI would put that more on the ad networks, if the ads were related to the article, it may generate a few more clicks. The ads are completely random and built off a profile they assume would contain relevant info about me… but it doesn’t really seem to be accurate (this is kind of by my own choosing though).
Instead articles about rebuilding cars should have ads related to perhaps rebuilding cars and not some fucking nutritional supplement or some other unrelated thing.
Damn man, I was on a streak (totally joking while kind of being serious).
Thanks for the source though, I still don’t get it but I’m also still using the same ringtone I used when my son started school (he’s in college now).

THE POLICE PROBLEM@lemmy.world•Man who threw sandwich at federal agent in D.C. says it was a protest. Prosecutors say it's felony assaultEnglish
3·11 days agoTechnically assult would be very difficult to prove unless he threatened to throw it first, I’m totally not trying to be an ass, but assault requires a moment where the victim can claim a fear or threat of it happening. I am 100% not saying battery wasn’t commited (in the most hilarious way possible), but assault may be pushing it.
All this being said, I’m not a lawyer and only know the difference because I’ve had to look it up a few times after discussions like this. I’ve also not seen any footage and would love more than anything for there to be a video of some standoff between them first, a dude with a gun/tazer/baton just trying to determine his odds against a bit with a sandwich. Lol

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•I made a guide on how to setup NTFS drives for linux gaming!English
4·11 days agoIt stands for New Technology File System from back in the Windows NT days, like NT 3.1 in the early 90s (my brain always thinks of Windows 2000 NT when that was really like NT 5).
I think I prefer your definition.

iiiiiiitttttttttttt@programming.dev•Found a text file at work titled "Why should I quit my job and become a goat farmer? (written during my "on-call" week)"
5·13 days agoThis list has gone around so much people almost get the reference at my work. I had lost the list at one point years ago and found someone had made it into a website: https://www.goatops.com/
Yeah but I never found a way to do whole disk encryption with a decoy OS like TrueCrypt could. Really I don’t have a need for that, but it was an amazing feature in my mind.
I never manage to absorb anything in a pre-0900 meeting. That first chunk of the day is for me to catch up on all the shit that happened since I was last there (personal opinion).

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a song in a language you don't speak that still gets you dancing and yelling along hyped?
1·18 days agoKuschel Song by Schnuffel, it honestly just makes me think about a simpler time in my life when I didn’t realize just how much I had laid out before me.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Looking for opinions on Trilium NotesEnglish
31·19 days agoI have used both but just started using jotty (jotty.page, github link on the bottom). The SSO setup with Authentik was seamless and it seems really snappy so far and the Dev seems active and involved.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Is Twingate good for remote access to a selfhosted Nextcloud server?English
1·19 days agoI personally like to use a proxy for that like NPM (a handy dockerized nginnx proxy setup). Not as secure as a VPN but I really like being able to access my stuff from anywhere I’m likely to be. I’ve combined it with a few other things to try and add simplicity (in use) and a little extra privacy by using Authentik for SSO. My main goal with the use of NPM though was to limit the number of ports I had punched.

Linux@programming.dev•Have you or someone close to you converted to Linux recently (with Windows 10's end of support)?
5·20 days agoI know you aren’t here looking for suggestions but give gparted a try. It has a nice GUI and if you are used to disk management in windows, the only major difference in finding your way around is selecting the physical drive via a dropdown, instead of seeing all the physical disks at once.
That makes sense! I always forget about those types of salads lol. Thanks!
I feel like he might be referring to Miracle Whip as it is (or at least was when I was paying attention in the 80s/90s) sold as “salad dressing”. No clue why they called it that but it was a cheap alternative to mayonnaise that had a tangy zip.
Now I have real mayonnaise made with eggs in my house (my mom was always weirded out by non-refrigerated egg products).

While I do agree GitHub is a place where people collaborate, it’s also a pretty handy place to store stuff without having to host your own. If the project doesn’t invite people to contribute, don’t expect a polite response forever. It’s like stopping your neighbor on the street corner to tell them they should paint their house white for the thermal benefits, yeah people collaborate on the street, yeah you are right, it’s their house though.
