Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Human em dash users, are you still afraid of being mislabeled as "AI"?English
2·2 个月前I use em dashes – the entry into any word processor is two dashes, just tell it not to autocorrect to an em-dash.

Do not post a video of yourself getting emotional after receiving targeted harassment, you’ll only be digging a deeper hole.
Usually its being too poor to have a shop fix something for you, and being forced to do it yourself.
Used to buy a book like the Chilton’s manual where it has instructions for performing repairs on your vehicle. They have an online version:

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
That sucks - I want to say Aluminum has material properties where it does not handle repeated stress well and will have fatigue failures. So anything like this just inherently has a limited number of cycles in its designed lifespan.

Global News@lemmy.zip•Ukraine Sends Evidence of 10,000 Russian Chemical Attacks to The HagueEnglish
7·4 个月前I thought it was going to be heinous, but its just tear gas, which is technically a chemical weapon. We’re routinely hit with CN/CS here in the states as civilians, there are adverse health effects they do not really talk about though.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If americans come to germany and act like german public Transport is the best, how frickin bad is american public Transport?English
17·5 个月前I am lucky enough to live along the rail line that connects the east coast to Chicago. It is the main connection between population centers. There are only 2 train lines that pass through, each line only has one train in both directions. (total 4 a day, 2 east, 2 west) No service during the day, only early morning and late night.
Rail service is a joke here.
Our buses are more of a suggestion even if they go to where you want.

Usenet Invites@lemmy.dbzer0.com•CLOSED! DRUNKENSLUG REGISTRATION IS OPEN!English
2·5 个月前NewsHosting - some of the best retention in the business. Never pay full price though, the coupons are multi-use, so just be sure to use another coupon before renewal. Here’s the $25 for 15 months coupon.
If you want to be technical, there are different backbone sources that have slightly different coverage, I have not had an issue with pulling articles with just NewsHosting though.
I’ve found plenty of stuff on Usenet that have not been on trackers, it’s just another resource.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Should a drawing that was made using AI references be marked as "AI Generated Content"?English
5·5 个月前To me, pardon the term, but hysteria about AI generated content as some sort of cooties that taints whatever it touches is silly.
AI content generally not art because there is not the same intentionality behind it in an ontological sense, in the same way pretty patterns that naturally occur are not art. You can be inspired by whatever, I’d just call you a shit artist if you trace some AI content and call it your art.
You could argue that it is possible to be art in the same way that guided natural processes can be art, using tools does not immediately make something not art, but looking like art also does not necessarily make something art – it is an interplay between an artisan and their tools to shape the world with intentionality. I think its just a higher bar to clear with tools that could possibly make some of the “creative decisions”.

2·11 个月前Just uh, spent the last week with it. Got it from a co-worker who had got put on Azithromycin by the local urgent care that thinks its “walking pneumonia”. So much of the stuff is being prescribed there are shortages locally. They uh, not testing for COVID or something, stuff pops positive on an OTC rapidtest.

For me, it’s a cashflow thing. If I use credit that’s one month I do not have to spend my own money on something - it also allows for larger purchases in one place, whereas I might have to move a bunch of money around and wait days if I paid cash.
Credit card companies make their money on merchant fees, the people who get trapped in cycles of debt are just the gravy on top for the fuckers.
