Bonds are essentially reverse loans, where you pay the government some amount and it pays you back with interest over the course of the bond. Increasing bond prices implies that either the government needs more money short term or that there is less confidence that the government will be able to repay it. Guessing it’s the former in Japan’s case.

People sometimes question why so many countries take seemingly bad/naive deals with the US, but like, they also know it’s a bad deal. No one expects America to honor shit at this point. It’s just that the alternative is typically worse, especially in the short term (which is what most politicians care about). It’s reached the point where the US can bully the entire EU.

He wanted that peace prize so fucking bad lmfao
I’m in basically the same boat as you. One of these days I’ll try it on tabletop sim instead of just reading the lore.
My guess would be that NRH wouldn’t be too much harder than the others. Like yeah your units do a lot, but since you don’t have as many to micromanage, you can think more about each individual one.

New China-Canada trade deal.
China is slashing tariffs on some Canadian agricultural products and Canada is allowing 50k electric BYD cars to be sold with almost no tariffs. Canadians will also be allowed visa free access to China. There are plans to increase Canadian exports to China in the long term as well (+50% by 2030).
For context, Canada sells a few million cars every year, although not that many are EVs. They let their EV rebate program end about a year ago, which cratered sales.

He was. Either it’s because he’s the type of boomer who doesn’t care for “influencers” or because this comic is from 2023 and his downward spiral was a lot more recent than I thought.

I wanted to see what his recent comic strips were like and I gotta be honest, some of the workplace humor ones are still funny

Meanwhile one of his last comics before going subscription only was implying Dilbert’s dog was gonna break Andrew Tate out of prison? What a guy.

the banks are out of money silver

In all seriousness this isn’t a huge deal since it’s just the collector’s coin type stuff, something to keep an eye on though

Might be a nice idea if it wasn’t coming from Kid Starver. One can only imagine how they could manage to abuse this

I guess Greece doesn’t arrest war criminals?

Imagine seeing the president in person and making him mad enough to flip you the bird, I’d be riding that high for years
Why is Charlie Kirk in this meme

Archive.is managed to catch it. Not sure what all is archived but the list of names is there. ~1500 people from ICE and related orgs

Always feels tough to judge what will be significant as it happens but this is looking like a big deal. Minneapolis is known for being cool after all

Why do people keep framing it as an invasion? The US is the only country with a military presence on the island, barring some civilian resistance they could basically just say “we own this now”

This is more common than you would think. People get their brains rewired by war and normal life doesn’t feel right anymore. You even get them trying to recreate the danger in other ways, like the huge surge in popularity of motorcycles in the US after WWII
Good post.
I wish I had saved it but one person in the comments of one of the rules change posts had a nice effort post on the issues with insults generally. It sounds obvious to say it but it’s demeaning by nature and almost always involves a comparison to some group that shouldn’t be viewed negatively, whether the insult is racist, sexist, ableist, etc. The “acceptable” insults tend to just be facts, i.e. “they’re a fascist.” Don’t want to go too deep into it since this is a post about ableist language and that can extend into more than just insults ofc.
