SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Unneccessary long context menus on YouTube MusicEnglish3·7 hours agoDon’t think OP is complaining about the number of options so much as how they are presented.
That menu looks much taller than it needs to be, the spacing between lines is huge, and the icons are unnecessarily big too.
Might not be what OP meant, but that’s how I read it.
EDIT - upon reading down the thread, it looks like it IS the number of options, my bad, sorry.
Took me a while to follow that too! The three examples of fails at the top each show instances where there are non-consecutive parts of the snake on adjacent corners - it’s the lines highlighted in red.
Basically no two parts of the snake that aren’t directly joined to each other in the snake are allowed to be on corners which are only a line apart.
I think.
So, replace one gross man with another?

Such a great book, both the story and the fragmentary structure of it. Got a paper copy somewhere, must read that again soon.
EDIT - found it 😁

SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening to? August 057·2 days agoFought my way through to the end of If on a Winter’s Night a Traveller yesterday - it’s a remarkable book, but I’m not sure if I actually enjoyed it exactly. Appreciated it as a challenging piece of post-modern fiction, sure… enjoyed… Kind of.
Have now moved on to my second attempt at reading The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy (first published 1759).
First attempt was years ago, and I do think I’m getting more out of it now than I did then. It’s quite challenging, with the old-fashioned language, and the many endnotes which I find useful in understanding but also distracting in maintaining a reading flow, but it’s funny and I think I’m getting the overall gist. We’ll see if I stick with it though!
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Football@sopuli.xyz•How many points do Wrexham need to earn in the Championship for promotion to the Premier League?3·2 days agoFor automatic promotion, they just need more than whoever finishes 3rd.
Since 04/05, the lowest points total for a promoted 2nd place team was 79 points (Stoke in 2008 and Hull in 2013)
However last year the second placed team had 100 points and 3rd place had 90. So there’s quite a range of possibilities.
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How often do you laugh at your own thoughts?5·2 days agoI laugh in my sleep, according to Mrs Sanguine - apparently my dreams are funny 😁
Sometimes, C&H gives me a quiet chuckle, or a simple smile as I enjoy the punchline.
This one made me properly guffaw! 😁
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the story behind this development pattern?1·2 days agoYeah, that is odd - maybe they’ll add them later on?
It’s a very strange layout! 😁
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the story behind this development pattern?8·2 days agoI don’t know, but if I had to guess I’d say it was laying down the structure of a massive expansion of the city.
In the most built up part, there’s the same sort of grid system, albeit pointing SW-NE, rather than N-S as with these. Maybe they’re setting up for adding more and more buildings in a similar layout?
Meanwhile, just south of the edge of your pic, there’s this intriguing feature!

SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What movie did you see too young that still haunts you to this day?3·4 days agoThe Giant Spider Invasion, maybe? It was on MST3K, but I think it was pretty successful on initial release too.
SanguinePar@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What movie did you see too young that still haunts you to this day?8·4 days agoThis is what I was going to say too!
I’m not sure if it was the premiere, but I do remember being called to come and see it - so it must have been some sort of event, or else they wouldn’t have called me in specially.
Anyway, yeah, those eyes at the end. The rest didn’t bother me at all, but those eyes haunted me for years.
Ha ha, great minds, I’ve just said The Lottery!
I only recently discovered Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery, but I think that would need to be in the conversation.
I guess it’s a matter of taste - I find a menu that tall, with gaps that large between the items, harder to read than a more compact presentation of the same info.
Either way though, it doesn’t seem like that was the issue, so not to worry!
