  • As many humans do, I think we tend to simplify complex situations. I see it here, where we treat heterogeneous groups of people as a monolith. Republicans think of the worst examples of Democrats as representative of the whole and vice versa, when there are truly a multitude of beliefs in each. Not all Republicans are evil racists.

Many are stupid racists, or simply stupid but not racist, racist but otherwise not stupid, or evil but indiscriminate. Some are even evil, racist, and stupid - see: Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump.

The Republican party is a melting pot of the worst the country has to offer. Don’t take that hard fought diversity away from them.

  • LOL I suspect you give less than zero fucks or this is a clever ploy for Jeffrey Crockett to receive some rather confusing correspondence. Love it either way.

My tuppence worth is Jeffrey or Jeff sounds warmer, softer, and friendlier while Neil sounds cooler (as in less warm), stronger, and classier. Jeff/rey is a fantastic golden retriever. Neil, from the Gaelic Niall, is the cat that sleeps atop your bookcase and occasionally descends to accept your food offerings.

  • I think the mistake is assuming they actually hold all of those beliefs.

Have you even argued with someone whose standards constantly shift so they’re always in the right, even when they soon back a position they were criticizing you for earlier in that conversation? That’s because they’re frantically defending another belief, sometimes one they aren’t even aware of themselves, and are either oblivious or unscrupulous enough to not notice or care how they’re doing it.

Far-right movements like the US Republicans are made of the frauds, fascists, and con artists running the show, the low-level grifters and bigots who aspire to one day be them, and the idiots too stupid to see they’re being deceived and swindled.
