Worsening material conditions for the proletariat will ultimately lead to unrest. We are already seeing the effects in support for Luigi, support for the warehouse arsonist, etc.
The ruling class knows what’s up. Flock cameras on every corner. People are noticing too.
I think in the long term the US is just going to tighten its grip on the Americas while the rest of the world moves towards clean energy. The moves on Venezuela, Greenland, Cuba, etc. make cohesive sense when viewed through the lens of a shrinking US sphere of influence.
You’re right that they will try to control global shipping but I think ultimately it will fail. Europe is already slipping out of the empire’s grasp and I think East Asia, Japan/South Korea/Taiwan, will be the next dominoes to fall.
True, we definitely shouldn’t. I’m just commenting on how the fascists and reactionaries that control the US perceive and portray it. The ball is in their court. Almost makes me wish for fucking liberals, but this is always how it would end.
There’s really only 2 options for the US at this point, fold or double down. Try to rein in Israel or try to take the Strait. Both will fail, and I cannot imagine the US will sit by while Iran controls the global distribution of oil. If the US were logical they would abandon Israel. I feel like shit is about to hit the fan and while I admire the Iranians for putting their foot down, I pray for their safety.
Right, but US sees that as nuclear weapons. The fatwa really doesn’t matter to the US. Both sides presented maximalist demands, these negotiations were over before they began.
Less than a day, both sides knew it was bullshit. The fact they even bothered actually bodes poorly imo. Both are trying to posture as reasonable before things escalate even further.
I think Iran is essentially doing this for optics with the rest of the world. Showing they are willing to negotiate while Israel continues its bloodthirsty massacres.

US extends waiver on Russian oil sanctions to ease Iran war shortages despite Bessent denial

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Treasury Department on Friday extended its pause on sanctions on Russian oil shipments to ease shortages from the Iran war, days after Secretary Scott Bessent ruled out such a move.
The so-called general license means U.S. sanctions will not apply for 30 days on deliveries of Russian oil that has been loaded on tankers as of Friday. It extended a similar 30-day license issued in March for Russian oil that had been loaded by March 11.
The extension underscores how the fallout from the Iran war has boosted Moscow’s ability to profit from its energy exports, which had been restrained since the invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking at the White House on Wednesday, Bessent ruled out extending the license.
“We will not be renewing the general license on Russian oil, and we will not be renewing the general license on Iranian oil,” he said.
The administration did not immediately explain the reversal.
