I’ve got a paw in each camp, having grown up with both at different times. Our kelpie was the biggest sook though, and preferred to sit in ‘her’ armchair in the lounge than run around outside.

3rd paw for heelers and 4th is for corgis, which are Welsh cattle dogs and very underrated. Because they’re short they can nip at heels and not get kicked in the head.
