Makes me wonder if you could use this as a memory mnemonic for memorizing a list of things. If you could somehow associate something in a list of things with each of these types of people.

billwashere@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is moderately severe back pain really normal at 30?English1·3 days agoI’m 54 and my backs hurts when I’ve been doing lots of physical activities I don’t normally do, like digging or anything not upright for several hours. But this pain is more inconvenient than anything. Like it’s uncomfortable to sleep, a sudden sharp thing like my body is saying “don’t do that dumbass!”, or more like sciatica and taking a shit hurts.
What your describing is definitely not normal and should be looked at for sure.

billwashere@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•how can I stop spiralling about my breakup?English3·3 days agoI know this isn’t super helpful right now but hear me out.
This has been many many years ago but I went through a separation for over a year, got back together, and then eventually divorced. Swore I would never put my kid through what I went through as a kid but ended up doing it anyway. Absolute worst pain I’d ever felt at the time. Lost my house, went without a car for a while. Had to move back in with my mom. Pain eventually started to subside. Met another wonderful woman. Eventually got married again. My life is way better now than what I would have been had I stayed married to my now ex. What was absolutely the most horrible thing I’d ever felt, barely even registers now.
Eventually the pain will go away. But as a therapist once told me, the only way to get over the pain is to go through it. In 20 years, you’ll barely remember it.
billwashere@lemmy.worldto Fuck AI@lemmy.world•AI Is Accelerating the Loss of Our Scarcest Natural Resource: WaterEnglish4·3 days agoFor all the harm that this current AI craze has caused with its excessive power usage, I don’t get how water usage is a thing. I’ve been in many data centers with water cooled systems and they were all closed loop systems. The water was a heat transport mechanism. The weren’t using fresh water to gather the heat and then just dumping it on the ground. So how is this a problem?

billwashere@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Rep. Mary Miller loses it over 'a Muslim' speaking in CongressEnglish3·4 days agoI would take it one step further and say they (founding fathers) were possibly even atheists, or at the extreme, very agnostic theists with the idea that IF god does exist, he doesn’t care or bother about us (which of course is deism). It would have been very unpopular back then to say god doesn’t exist, so deism was a step in that direction. Just my theory.
billwashere@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Rep. Mary Miller loses it over 'a Muslim' speaking in CongressEnglish202·4 days agoSometimes I really wish the founding fathers were around to just say, “Yeah, we were all atheists when we did this America thing. It just wasn’t fashionable at the time. So this idea that American was founded on Christianity, is well, just bullshit”
I mean they were literally fleeing religious persecution. Why would they bake religion into what they were creating?

And yes that was the absolute hardest thing I’ve ever done. We scheduled it on a Friday and had to wait an entire weekend for it to happen on Monday. I am a 54 year old man and I cried like a little baby the whole weekend.
And they did indeed have a brochure of things to memorialize your pet. This was pretty recent so the brochure is actually still on the mantle.
So I’m thinking it does count 😏

This is how to be a decent person. I’m glad there are people like you in the world.
And yes the grandmother comment would have definitely hurt… oof.
I guess I’ll just die instead.
