Yeah, that’s the flaw in OP’s plan. It’s pretty rare for a class to be completely covered in lecture

metallic_substance@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What grocery items are always worth the extra $1-$5?32·2 days agoCoffee. It’s something that I refuse to compromise on. It may be especially important to me because I like to drink it black. If it doesn’t taste great without adding anything to it, it’s not with drinking at all in my opinion.

Ah, okay. I guess that makes more sense. It’s still a pretty scuffed punchline, because doesn’t the movie pretty clearly explain that? Why would the character just be getting it? Seems pretty shoehorned in. I guess I’m thinking too hard about a silly comic
The punchline about Jack Sparrow makes no sense. It has zero connection to drones. Is it just supposed to be funny because it’s a reference? Maybe I’m missing something

If this is happening to you, you may be in need of a CPAP machine and probably some long term fitness goals

metallic_substance@lemmy.worldto World News@quokk.au•Nearly half of Americans say tipping has ‘gotten out of control’33·13 days agoThat’s not what a straw man argument is, or at least, it’s not a good example of one. It was literally what you were basing your whole argument on.
metallic_substance@lemmy.worldto World News@quokk.au•Nearly half of Americans say tipping has ‘gotten out of control’21·13 days agoWhat straw man am I punching in this scenario?
metallic_substance@lemmy.worldto World News@quokk.au•Nearly half of Americans say tipping has ‘gotten out of control’103·13 days agoSpoken like someone who has never been to a country where tipping culture doesn’t exist. The service industry works just fine when businesses are required to pay staff a living wage instead of pushing that expense on to the customer. You level the blame at the wait staff for pushing this culture, but that’s simply not the case.
metallic_substance@lemmy.worldto World News@quokk.au•Nearly half of Americans say tipping has ‘gotten out of control’153·13 days agoThere’s a bit to unpack here. The fact that you characterize it as a “crime” at all implies that something wrong is being done in the first place. No, it’s not a crime to not tip. However, someone is being negatively impacted when you don’t.
Does the system suck? Yes, it sucks. It sucks the moon right out of the sky, but someone is being hurt by you not tipping, and that person is essentially a minimum wage worker that depends on those tips to survive. Until that system changes, you are the asshole for not tipping when the service is acceptable to you.

I think they have some genuinely great songs and some truly excellent talent in their lineup that shines bright from time to time. However, Dani California is NOT a good song and I will never bend on that.
