  • Ok I hear you, the free market is not perfect, in fact it is free for exploration due to its open-ness. I give you that. There have been many abuses and will be. But I just listed a way the free market can regulate itself passively eventually without external influence, it is in individuals best interests to choose a better product and let the inferior fail (if there is no external influence). In a controlled market where the decision is made that the food can be adulterated by let’s say 10% saw dust, this was chosen because the people on top realised that it won’t have detrimental effects and will provide 10% extra rations. What passive correcting method which individuals can exercise is there?

  • I feel you are making a good point, in a free market people will choose, it is literally in their best interest to choose, and if someone produces a sub par or even poisonous product, the people will choose not to use the product and basically self regulate. Our country had this sudden boom of Shein clothing, they were cheaper so of course they dominated. The government tried exercising control by confiscating the clothes or adding extra tariffs on the clothes and it really was ineffective, our ports are basically so corrupt anything gets through. But now two to three years later even the newspapers are picking up on the growing textile industry thanks to everyone buying locally made clothes that are higher quality that lasts more than 5 washes. Yes there was a market disruption but the market is regulating itself, and cheap clothes from China or Pakistan will have there place, they will only have enough space the market decides for itself.

Here is an opinion piece regarding the recent shifts, https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2025-07-07-after-the-bell-shopping-sucks-but-sa-is-stitching-a-comeback/

  • Yeah I really do hope people will hold their elected government official in charge to account. Agreed that just because the mayor thought it might seem Islamophobic he just brushed off the sexual assault incident and said kids will be kids, oopsie, fucking coward. Hope there is consequences and enforcement of rule of law.

But I do not think it is an issue of assimilation, I am a minority in my own country with my own very rich and vibrant culture. I do not fucking need to assimilate and I will not be suppressed by the majority to assimilate. But I do believe you can criticise and condemn vile cultures and traditions, even my own is regularly criticised. Cultures with traditions like genital mutilation like circumcision or labia and clitoris removal of kids, if it’s not a medical requirement then leave the kids the fuck alone, don’t care if it is your culture, let them mature to a consenting age and then they can choose for themselves. Or suppression of women to below a man or as a sexual object, fuck of if your book says this person needs to be subjected by this person.

But sorry I am ranting in a conservative group, I am libertarian leaning so I assume my views are not aligned with everyone’s here, but believe we can all talk common sense

  • Yeah there are no winners here, not the mayor of being ignorant and not denouncing inappropriate behaviour, not the men sexually assaulting the women and finally the writer who’s xenophobia and intolerance leads to a biased outlook.

Nothing wrong with condemnation of discrimination of unacceptable practices, but at the same time is it all Syrian men, all of them and is it impossible for German men for example, to sexually assault underage women.

I feel it is not the immutable characteristics that condemned the men, such as their nationality, race or gender, but rather their Outlook and practices that see women as lower status that can be objectified as the true cause. Even men of other nationality, race and gender for example white German male believing the same and conducting the same vile acts should be condemned

  • Yeah I don’t see Deng as a hyper capitalist, and I do have issues with him, but when reading on China I saw this, and I only did light reading, like 2 or 3 web pages, so I was viewing this from my point of view, mostly identify as a Liberal in a classic sense. I could have missed some points and thank you for your opinions, I feel we should always try to not see everything through only our point of views. Like China is one of the greatest success stories where if I look at graphs on wiki since 1995-ish they have grown and uplifted the largest group of people from poverty to middle income. No one can deny the Chinese miracle.

  • Can we agree we already engineered the climate to be 2°C hotter. Albeit stopping emissions has been a noble goal, unfortunately clearly that strategy is not working. We should still continue to try and achieve it, but why not admit it wasn’t enough and we start geoengineering the atmosphere with Stratospheric Aerosol Injection. Yes it has its problems, yes it is not a long term solution, yes there are many unknowns. But saying we should just try harder with our current strategy, that we should double down even harder is madness defined. This is an easy achievable solution that will be beneficial in the short run. Unfortunately there is just too much benefit for companies and individuals to pollute now and make it the next generation’s issue. Like I said we have already geoengineered the atmosphere to be hotter, let’s replicate volcanos that inject particles into the atmosphere that lowers the temperature in the surrounding area.

Not everyone is going to agree and that is fine, but here is my two cents regarding future solutions.

  • Look I know I am kicking a hornet’s nest here. First of all I am a Linux supporter, I have used the green Ubuntu since 2012, and I have been gaming on it since 2022.

But I am really curious about how the new ally 2 with the Xbox tweaked version of win 11 is going to turn out. Not that I would use it, if I get a handheld it will probably run Bazzite. But since Bazzite is basically a purpose built Linux OS for handhelds, I think the best comparison would be the Xbox team’s purpose built Windows 11 for handhelds.

I still believe Microsoft will take the loss even with the tweaked version, but just like how we will cry if they put for example Hannah Montana Linux and Microsoft beats it somehow in certain examples with their new Xbox win 11 mobile.
