What I love about hippos is that they are too heavy to swim, they basically sink to the bottom where they walk and eat all the vegetation

Pixel Dungeon@lemmy.world•Maybe we should stop putting traps in red sentry roomEnglish
1·19 days agoWTF never encountered a trap in there, enemies yes but never traps. Makes sense to ask for their removal. Do you maybe have the trap trinket that increases their spawn rate?

1·19 days agoOk not a sketchy website. I was using the WiFi at my Company I work for, they were redirecting my traffic leading to the browser warning me of the invalid certificates.
On mobile data the link works. This is the first time I noticed it today, and after the second link from Google gave me a similar issue I knew something was fishy

6·26 days agoI am not sure if the Nazis did but I read the Allied forces tried to conceal the fact that they invented radars by making up a saying that carrots improve your eye sight and that is how they were able to spot the German planes so far away. I am about 90%-ish sure of this fact

Working Class Calendar@lemmy.world•Durban Riots (1949) The Durban Riots were an anti-Indian pogrom that began on this day in 1949 in Durban, South Africa, committed primarily by African people against poor Indians
2·27 days agoIt was sad, I may be wrong but this is what I was told in school (post Apartheid), Apartheid was a racial classification system, so Indians and Coloureds (mixed race) were rated like second rate citizens and Blacks or Africans were classified as the lowest basically a third rate citizen. There were 7 classifications, white being one and 7 being black, our new IDs everyone is rated 8 now. So this allowed a system of animosity between Blacks and Indians since they were treated differently, Indians for example were able to get better work and residential areas compared to blacks, still nowhere near as nice as whites.
Unfortunately it made Indians an easy target, since they do not have the army or police protect them for the most part, and at least violent outbursts from angry Blacks can be directed to Indians and not Whites.
We read the white owned petrol stations looked the other way when selling paraffin for example during these times, most likely knowing what it will be used for.
FYI I may be wrong, this is just what I learned in highschool so there is most likely errors and bias, I did not grow up during Apartheid so I wasn’t there. Please read up from more accurate sources. Please feel free to to correct me

Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•Video - Zohran Mamdani says support of Hamas has no place in New York City.
23·29 days agoNot defending Israel, just this was about Hamas and the mayor saying he does not support them. I give you my reasoning why I agree with his view. I like how you attack me, the messenger, as if you know anything about me. But this isn’t about me, probably my mistake to try and find comparisons from my own life, but I know better now.
I really do hope the Palestinian people get to have peace and prosper, really hope they can have like what we in SA did and live in harmony together. Thank fuck we had Mandela and de Klerk that was able to negotiate peace and lead us to a constitutional democracy.
But I will not support Hamas personally, nor Netenyau’s government, hopefully both sides(Palestine and Israel) can get leaders such as ours that can work together. I really hope for everyone there they find a way to live together.
Otherwise this is my last comment on this thread, not gonna waste more of my time, I do not want to change your opinion nor would I want you to change your opinion, we both can have our own valid opinions. So cheers and my not a drop of blood be further spilled on either side

53·29 days agoHamas cannot conduct October the 7th and then wash their hands and say some of the chaos and killing was not our doing, it was others, lets make a boogeyman called Israel spies yes that is who, Hamas peacefully entered Israel on Oct 7, how baby got into Gaza and subsequently died was nothing to do with Hamas, it was those Israeli spies

GOG@lemmy.world•Bonjour can you explain why games that are over 10 years old are still priced at their original release price? I don't understand this “sale” principle when a gradual price reduction over timeEnglish
3·29 days agoWell technically inflation does that for you, taking $ here, but $10 was worth more than 10 years ago than now. I understand where you are coming from and it makes sense, so also I might be wrong but hopefully there aren’t too many games increasing their price as time goes on to account for inflation.

Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•Video - Zohran Mamdani says support of Hamas has no place in New York City.
73·29 days agoGlad we could justify the killing of a “baby” because America has killed more, at least 20. Nazi’s also killed a couple of Jewish babies, what is just one more, it’s not like Hamas target this specific baby, kidnapped the baby, refused to hand it back if it was really an error, not keep the baby as a hostage until the baby finally died of “natural death”.
People it was a single baby, please support Hamas because not supporting them, even if the justifiably killed one baby (and not 20 if it was the USA), is basically not supporting Palestine and its people whom these acts of Hamas, like killing one tiny baby, are done in the Palestinian people’s name.

294·29 days agoThis is a false dichotomy, of course you can be pro Palestinian but also reject an organisation that has committed horrendous crimes like Hamas. Hamas may justify their crimes as resistance but does killing babies and other civilians really constitute resistance or terrorism.
My own government, the ANC resisted apartheid by targeting infrastructure not civilians, they targeted the Apartment regime not white people, why the world supported the South African struggle and Nelson Mandela’s ANC.
Once bought a left handed scissor, did not know up until then there was such a thing, as a right handed how the fuck do you cut stuff, it was the crappiest cut ever
In real life, I would have loved dogs tearing up Pavlov after reading what he actually did
Maybe, but if it was a movie who would you cheer for, the massively overpowered enterprise just blowing up a space minivan or the David vs Goliath battle where two friends with a crossbow takes on a US Space ship and triumphantly makes the impossible possible
