I’m not sure if that’s the right usecase. Meshtastic seems to be for short-range, line-of-sight-ish communication. Apparently, you can set up repeaters to expand the coverage area, but it seems like buildings, trees, etc will dramatically affect the signal strength. (I think?)

Yeah, I think so. I saw a video where someone called it “a walkie talkie, but for sending text messages”. People use these for going on remote hikes, hunting trips, or protests. Basically, any area where you can’t use a cellphone. They’re not a replacement for cellphones, they fill a different usecase.

I tried to get this to work a few months ago and failed as well. Granted I had a 2-3cm hole in my tire. It kinda worked when I rotated the tire so that the hole was at the bottom… But the hole was just too big for the foam.

I know some very smart engineers that totally bought into his stupid lies. Like. Wtf. How can they be methodical in gathering facts for debugging software bugs, but then also completely fail to think for 2 seconds about any trump claims.

Yeah, up to a point. I interviewed a guy once who seemed super smart, but was a total asshole. He easily breezed through all the technical rounds, but ultimately we didn’t hire him because none of us wanted to work with the jerk.

Uff! When I was interviewing a few months ago, I was honest in an interview and said I was lukewarm on AI. The recruiter threw me a bone and said, “When you talk with the hiring manager, make sure you say you’re really excited about AI.”
