That’s one of the things that makes Dune so interesting… there are not many books from the bad guys point of view, let alone where you are supposed to recognize that the protagonist-- as you so snarkly noted – isn’t the good guy.

If they are not being shipped, they don’t need longshoremen to unload-- they don’t need truckers to get them to distribution centers- they don’t need people to work in the stores. And when all those people lose hours or jobs; they can’t spend money at other stores or restaurants…
The USA is a goods and services economy and when you gut goods; no one can afford any services.
