If kernel updates can break the Broadcom driver try using the lts kernels instead.

19·11 months agoOnly 2 OS updates and 3 years of security updates is too little for a phone marketed as repairable.


Even with a rolling release distribution like arch you can use the linux-lts package instead of the normal linux package to get the longterm support kernels.
