Could be worse. GOG’s approach is super annoying, and a lot of platforms (like fucking Apple) actually require the use of insecure and invasive SMS verification. And as far as I know Steam hasn’t been hit with any data breaches since 2011.

You are confused. I’m not “intentionally misreading” anything, it was written incorrectly. I’m not trying to argue anything. I’m just reading the (wrong) words used in the article. When I come across a piece of misinformation, I don’t continue reading in the hopes that they clear it up later, I write it off and close it.

This verification system is completely unreliable. The good news is that it’s most often wrong in a good way. Games that are shown as unsupported or unverified typically work just fine. In reality it’s probably 90%+ of Steam’s library that will work perfectly.
