I think the realization that Ukraine got cynically used is starting to sink in, and I expect this could result in a serious backlash against the west in the future.

Western leadership is now discovering that you can’t just create weapons out of thin air the way they print money. The west is now having to grapple with the facts of material world we actually live in where it takes time to build factories, create supply chains, and train workers to produce physical things.
9·2 years agoI think that’s exactly what makes them mad, they’re used to being able to regurgitate the tropes they’ve memorized without being challenged and then pile on anybody who disagrees. All of a sudden they’re in a space where this tactic doesn’t work and all they can do is downvote. It’s kind of funny how libs like to project the aura of being rational, polite, and reasonable, but as soon as they’re not the majority opinion the mask falls off and they expose themselves as the petty ignoramuses they actually are.
1·2 years agoWhat’s there to qualify, NATO is an aggressive alliance that continues to expand and invade countries, and now it got itself into a proxy war with a nuclear superpower while already planning to expand into Asia to promote conflict with another nuclear superpower.
Meanwhile, NATO cannot exist as an organization without US who provide pretty much all the military muscle of this gang. The rest of the countries combined have laughable military capacity, especially now that much of it has been sent to burn on the steppes of Ukraine. European industry is collapsing due to high energy costs, and Germany which is the only remaining major industrial power in Europe is deindustrializing as we speak.

I’ve been learning Mandarin for the past year and a half or so, it’s definitely challenging. Learning to write in particular is incredibly challenging since learning to recognize the characters is an easier task than remembering all the strokes you have to make. My plan is to just use pinyin as input and just skip learning to write. English doesn’t even begin to compare in terms of complexity.

Makes you wonder about a person who spends their whole day chasing down lemmy comments to downvote. I’ve come to take a perverse sort of pleasure in knowing that I live rent free in these people’s heads.
They’re basically kidnapping people off the street and throwing them into combat as cannon fodder. Any regime that would do this to their own people is absolutely deplorable. Western values on full display here.
