The big risk on this kind of adaptation measure is that when you displace food crops with non-food crops, the conversation of unfarmed land into farmland is a likely consequence, along with the CO2 emissions that the land use change causes.

So far, this is a very limited-scale change, but potentially a big deal if it covers a much larger area.
