The user is never asked. Never told. LinkedIn’s privacy policy does not mention it. Because LinkedIn knows each user’s real name, employer, and job title, it is not searching anonymous visitors.       This is the answer. If you can’t get work or stay on top of your field without LinkedIn, that’s a you problem. Not an industry problem. If you want to play the grind game, yeah have fun on Facebook for stooges.
