    So it is possible to remove (not change) the profile banner. Just not straightforward.

    Steps in Lemmy web UI:

    • Go to your account settings page.
    • Click on the current banner picture. This will open a dialog to select a new picture.
    • Select a new picture.
    • The new banner placeholder will have an “X” icon on the top-right, click it. This will remove the banner altogether instead of changing it.
    • Go to the bottom of the settings page, click the “Save” button.
    • Now the profile banner has been removed.

      Whoops, turns out that those steps was unnecessary after all.

      On the accounts settings page normally the banner picture already has the “X” icon to delete it. I was unable to see the “X” icon because my profile banner was dark so the icon was not visible.
