I believe The Beatles: Rock Band came the closest to being perfect. Eveything about that game was just beautifully done and the only things missing was Pro Drums, an option for Keys, and a few more Beatle songs (Hey Jude, Strawberry Fields Forever, Yesterday etc. etc.)
A few weeks ago I would have easily picked Tetris on Game Boy, but then I discovered some more modern variants (Rosy Retrospection, Apotris and even Tetris Effect) and I think those are even better, in my opinion.
So I’ll pick Metal Gear Solid. Still plays great, is quite compact and without modern open world bloat or bolted-on roleplay mechanics.
