I’ve been thinking for a long time about how a functioning FPV community could be created in Fediverse. What would be the right platform for you? How do you get people to overcome the registration hurdle and what is the best way to explain how Fediverse works? I would like to collect a few thoughts here.

Is there still a registration hurdle? I got onboard a few months ago and can’t even remember what the big deal was.

I remember being pretty confused about which server to create an account on — wondering how much it mattered and how to select one. It’s a “forced choice” step, and each time you have to stop and make a decision people will drop off.

I may have thought a little too far. My point was that people need multiple accounts, for example to share their content in a forum. Unfortunately, OpenID, which is used by Hubzilla, is not yet widely used.

The fundamental question is how do you make Fediverse attractive to people?

@Stickbro it’s tough really. I started up fpv.social to host people, but I have no real clue how to drive engagement so it just sits here for the few of us who use it!
