Plastic not so fantastic: Do you know which numbers can't be recycled?

Do you know your PP from your HDPE, and your PVC from your soft plastics? Plastic recycling is a minefield, so here's how to tell what you're dealing with and which bin you should put it in.

I sort my recycling knowing that it ends up in landfill.

if we stop sorting, it’s just another thing people can point to to say that the task is insurmountable… sorting helps to make a good recycling solution easier to implement in the future. i think of it like voting

        Meanwhile, in the future: https://www.smh.com.au/national/redcycle-declared-insolvent-but-plastic-stockpiles-under-control-of-supermarket-giants-20230227-p5cns1.html

I’ll bet you an empty can of coke that it all ends up in landfill overseas.

We need to stop using plastics, and there are perfectly fine alternatives. This is a government regulation issue - not a personal responsibility.

That said, I will recycle to my best ability if only so that I can look at my kids in the eye and ask them to care as much.
