Without getting into too much detail, I am finally ending a nearly 20 year, very toxic, very abusive marriage.
Recently I have been exploring the idea of turning some things I have bought/been gifted over the years into ‘heirlooms’ by upcycling/customizing, etc. I plan to write a book about it one day, but want to inspire people to have more meaningful objects in their home. But that’s for another time.
Do any of you have an idea of things I could do to repurpose my ring? I wouldn’t be opposed to melting it down. I’d love to hear some personal stories of people who have had a similar experience.
When i finally got divorced I gave my ring to someone who needed money, and told them to pawn it for whatever they could get. Plain, simple men’s gold band i paid a few hundred bucks for.
Id almost say melt it down and reshape it to something else you enjoy/is significant but that takes a jewler and more money.
I’ve had 2 failed engagements - one was a family ring that i don’t have back, one was going to be tattooed, and I still have a specific spot open for it around my knuckle ink.
Glad you’re going on to a better place! Solidarity comrade, know how hard it can be (one relationship was 10 years, so feel ya).
I guess to start with ideas, what sorta stuff you into? Any hobbies or anything?
