So yes, famine is indeed “Hungersnot” in German. A rough translation of the composite word here would be Hunger(Hungers) and Need(nød/not)

I’m Norwegian, but 50% of our vocabulary is derived from German, and our word for famine is “Hungersnød”. So yes, famine is indeed “Hungersnot” in German. A rough translation of the composite word here would be Hunger(Hungers) and Need(nød/not)
I hunger for the snot.
