Mwenda had been able to portray himself as a qualified attorney for a considerable amount of time, according to the report, and judges did not doubt his abilities until after his most recent arrest.
I would have hoped that the guy would have just gone to law school. There is a reason that certain professions require certain education. And if he is able to handle a court case, then he should also be able to pass law school.
Now, since he has a criminal history, he may not be able to ever become a lawyer, and has thrown all his skills under the bus.
Wonder why he did it. If there is some inequality in law school admissions in Kenya? And he did it out of spite?
I’ve met people who are wicked smart but couldn’t pass a test. I’ve met people who got straight As, in the Honors Society, and was on the Dean’s list who couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag.
I’m not saying law school isn’t important. But it could be that the guy did do law school and choked on the exams and decided to just practice law anyway.
Test taking is a skill like any other, but it also largely does not match the actual work experience you’re likely to encounter on any job. Long-term projects would make more sense but are harder to grade, and schools seem to expect teachers to grade on their own time.
