I know, Texas really does suck most of the time. but right now, its cool in the evenings, the springtime flowers are in bloom and the smell is just about everywhere. Im lucky to live in a place where nature hasnt been completely paved over and lost yet.

hey thats a false dayflower i think? I like those flowers. I dont see them where i am in texas but i think that only grows in texas?

My uncle was a master gardener who spent a lot of time at the closest botanical garden in my area, and i went with him a lot, spent a lot of time watching him grow plants, volunteering info, and at some point i picked up his love of flowers and plants.

Yes! Also known as Widow’s Tears and Ol’ Fuzzyface, apparently, I shit you not.

I hope to one day know the names of as many plants in my area before I kick the bucket.

I am in North Austin where this was photographed, but I know for a fact these also grow in northeast San Antonio. IDK where else.

So you’re up in the hill country then? Im truly jealous. Thats some of the most beautiful parts of Texas, IMO. Im south of Corpus by a bit. My uncle called them widows tears which is what i learned them by, but ive never heard of Ol Fuzzyface. Thats funny.
