I’m wanting to get some Anime through XDCC, since I’m not the one who manages my ISP, I don’t want any DMCAs routed to my room-mate. So can I safely Pirate via IRC without any DMCAs coming my friends way?

      This was some serious nostalgia flashbacks.

      I remember having access to shell accounts @ an ISP that was on an OC-48 backbone back when dialup Internet was just starting to hit mainstream. Hosted so many things in #exceed (and it’s predecessor that I forget the name of now) and #OldWarez

    Unlikely. It’s basically just direct downloading so unless there server you’re connecting to is a honeypot, the only people who would know what you’re doing are yourself and the person distributing. Much safer than torrenting.

    If downloading copyrighted material is legal in your jurisdiction, sure. XDCC is a low priority target compared to scene groups, streaming websites and private trackers.

    We don’t have that problem in Slovakia XD. Here you can pretty much do anything without a VPN and never be punished
