      They usually recommend if a basement is not available to get in a small room or closet on the bottom floor as close to the center of the building as possible… The more walls closer together make it a bit sturdier, but you know, if a big-ass tornado hits your house directly, who knows what chance there.

      Well, it’s the midwest, so there’s that radon gas thing in the basements. 😐

      I’m joking, though. Underground is best if you can find it. I grew up in Indiana.
