      I never really thought of the difference between recent protest photos and ones from the 1960s and 70s. Compositionally that photo would have looked good in print so it would have been right at home in a newspaper or magazine of that era. In the old days low resolution black-and-white was only game in town for newspapers and color in magazines was - by today’s standards - in shocking low resolution.

      The photo is - cough - an arresting image and it almost has a staged appearance. That was perfectly suited for the old days. Ideally protagonists were absolutely as large as possible and they were static so there was no fuzziness or blur.
