Well I mean the US didn’t give a shit when the IDF intentionally killed Shireen Akleh, US citizen and journalist reporting on the 2022 violence in the West Bank at a refugee camp. Why would they care? The US government will never drop their support of Israel and will never take action against the state. Israel could sink a carrier and the US would still debate whether or not they should take action.

Friendly reminder about the USS Liberty incident.

Israel just has political plot armor in the US (UK as well, seemingly).

Does not matter how many US Jews are against Israeli policies and actions, it is always anti-semitic to against Israel, even if you yourself are a Jew.

I am honestly still quite amazed the IDF continues to fuck up basic ROE worse than the US did in Iraq War 2.

Edit: Look up the Samson Policy/Option for more insanity.

We posture, much of it legitimately, albeit somewhat hypocritically, against the proliferation of nuclear weapons, generally.

Meanwhile there are multiple on record statements of Israeli officials basically saying that if Israel is sufficiently attacked, they will nuke European Capitals, basically any where they can to give the entire world a reason to not let Israel fall.

And apparently the idea of just nuking Gaza was being floated back in Feb.

But nope, officially the US just keeps pretending Israel does not have nukes.

Edit 2: Ironically the saying that pops into my mind after writing all that is something my grandmother used to say: Noah, Get the Boat.

The political class might feel that way. But as far as I can tell Americans are getting fed up. And eventually that could have a massive impact on Israel given that their entire security apparatus is built around American advanced weaponry.

I agree, we as citizens need to continue to pressure politicians into action against genocide. But I’m concerned that the grassroots pressure is going to fall apart as soon as the elections are over, regardless of who wins. I think the world is heading towards the next cycle of violence instead of stopping it in the here-and-now, with no justice for those that are suffering.

Eh, a certain subsection of Americans are getting fed up. I’ve yet to personally talk to an actual voter whose vote will be swayed by our weapon sales to Israel, tho. By and large Americans support Israel. The right certainly does, unconditionally. And the centrist Democrats, you know, the largest bloc of Dems, do too.
