Hoping to start a weekly thing where we can share the music we’ve been obsessing over for the last week with each other…and hopefully discover some cool new stuff along the way!

So, share some songs you have just discovered and been playing on repeat, songs you have always loved, or just songs you can’t seem to get out of your head right now! Tell us what you like about them, and maybe you can get some recommendations of new stuff along the way!

Here are a couple of mine:

Time and Place by Queens of the Stone Age - this is a highlight for me off their new record. It’s super funky and different than a lot of what they’ve done before. Would be killer live!

Flamethrower by King gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - I think this is my favorite off their new program metal record. Every band member is on fire on this track and it sounds great. If you’re a metal fan, give this record a spin!

    A few from me:

A Foul Form by Thee Oh Sees - From the eponymous album by Thee Oh Sees (Osees) released almost a year ago. Fast-paced, angry, low-fi hardcore. They’re releasing a new album soon and have two singles out as well. The Oh Sees are similar to KGATLW in terms of output and variation across projects. They were also on their record label at one point.

Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) by David Bowie - I love how creepy this song is. And I love David Bowie.

Waltz #2 (XO) by Elliott Smith - I have been diving into folk recently, and Elliott Smith is a standout for me. Sadly, he passed away in 2003 by suicide (although some believe he was murdered by his GF, he had two stab wounds to the chest.) I’d def take recommendations on anyone’s favorite folk artists as I am relatively new to the genre!

Thee Oh Sees are a band I’m still trying to find a decent entry point into. I’ve heard lots of comparisons to KGATLW in terms of output, and in fact I saw them perform a live set at a festival about a month ago! But to me it just seemed like a lot of noise and smashing and crashing with no rhyme or reason and I couldn’t get into it. Maybe I’ll check out this song you shared and keep trying.

I think Floating Coffin or Mutilator Defeated at Last are the best entry points. They’re accessible and melodic. Maybe start with Floating Coffin, it is comparable to KGATLW’s early stuff, and has a garage rock sound.

A Foul Form is a very heavy, anxiety-inducing hardcore album lol - but if you enjoyed the song I linked then you’d enjoy the album.
