You lose so much in world building and character building with these seasons that are barely longer than a movie. I’ve had someone tell me that any season longer than 8 episodes is just padded with filler episodes and I felt so sorry for them. I don’t think they’ve ever seen a high quality long form show and it’s really sad.
With modern miniseries length seasons, you never get those slice of life episodes or interesting side stories or anything at all that doesn’t serve to advance whatever the major story arc of the season is.
