The HEC will be producing works of cultural commentary to reconcile opposing sides, in conjunction with hosting salon-style spaces for people to talk about important issues and difficult ideas while resisting their reflexive reduction to existing ideological oppositions. We also seek to create new forms of dialectical mediation between opposing viewpoints in Western society, and point the way to solutions that transcend reduction and polarization produced by the status quo. As a women-led initiative, the HEC seeks to prioritize women’s voices in critiquing stereotyped political logic from a socially grounded perspective.

I went to NYC for a job interview and they took me to a salad place for lunch. A big delivery truck rolled up and sat idling blasting exhaust from its pre-2000s muffler straight into the doorway. The interviewer just continued to sit there smiling looking at me like a robot as I struggled to breathe and everybody’s lifespans perceptibly shortened by several years. That’s when I realized, people in New York City cannot fuck.
