Hi,
I posted twice to a community on lemmy.world and wondered why no one upvoted or replied.
If I go to the the community directly via a web browser my posts don’t show.
Is federation broken again?
My posts were 6 and 7 days ago.
Not being able to post to reddit.world is a feature, WONTFIX
Look, I really hope this is either satire or sarcasm. I’ve tried my damnedest to post decent stuff to this instance. It’s all been virtually ignored. I’ve put in actual effort to try to roll out content here. However, since apparently if it isn’t strictly *nix related or spammed animal pic it will get buried, ignored and/or downvoted into oblivion. I really believe in the mission of SDF, which is why I’m here - as an effort to promote it in every way I can. Maybe, just maybe, that includes posting to lemmy.world with the highest quality stuff I can produce (admittedly it isn’t fantastic).
Not everyone is willing or knowledgeable enough to SSH into SDF via Termux just to visit something that may be confusing. If the goal is to teach people that Unix can be learned without a lot of prior knowledge (via just trying stuff), there is absolutely no reason to attempt to eliminate awareness via posting to another instance. It’s like saying you want someone to join your UseNet group without providing any context.
It’s just too big for you, I guess?
seems to be working for me. lemmy.world is being really slow right now though
Bad luck?
https://lemmy.world/post/18089343Edit: Welp, it federated out, but a comment from 10 minutes ago still didn’t arrive.
Still nothing, and my comment just went through right away. It’s broken in the inbound direction.
Hmm, but it’s only visible on lemmy.world, not on sh.itjust.works.
Local link, so we can see stuff coming back, if it does.
Hello
greetings
Hello how’s federation now
Mostly sour with a hint of mushrooms.
🤣
everything good on your end?
for the most part yes I think so
That’s good to hear.
Neat. The data doesn’t go back very far yet, though.
Two immediate observations: Hexbear is surprisingly huge in terms of activity, and lemm.ee had a crazy spike happen at 14:00 UTC on Tuesday (
probably spam or similar).Edit: Oh, no, actually that’s it catching up after going offline for a while.
Hey again. Do you know who maintains this? It seems to only display around a month of data, but I’d like to use it to monitor the growth of Lemmy. I’m wondering if there’s a way to add more capacity to go back in time, perhaps with some modest funding.
im sorry, i do not know.
its so useful, i wish the stack was documented somewhere.
Uhh, do you remember where you heard about it? Someone has to know…
yep, i was asking about federation issue on this thread:
https://moist.catsweat.com/m/support@lemmy.world/t/248687/federation-issue-to-instance
and one of the commenters linked to it…
Alright, thanks, I’ll see if I can follow this back to the source.
I first heard about it on the Lemmy admins Matrix chat
Hmm. I should probably get on there, then. Thanks!
