In 1991 in Louisiana it was Democrat Edwin Edwards, whom every one knew to be corrupt, and who was later convicted and served time in prison. Against David Duke, Imperial Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. Edwards’ campaign slogan was, “Vote for the crook! It’s important!”
