The main cost of a domain is buying is the upfront cost if someone else already owns it, but that’s a one-time fee. Perhaps I’m sorely mistaken? I was under the impression Elon himself has the rights to it.
Not only that, I’d godaddy does charge him more yearly, icann certainly does not see any of that money.
Not for 1-3 letter domains, especially .com domains. Those basically fund ICANN.
