Hours after a mob ofĀ Donald Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol and assaulted dozens of police officers in an attempt to reach members of Congress, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., then the House speaker, referred to the then-president as āa domestic enemy.ā
The comments came in video shot by documentary filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi, Pelosiās daughter, that HBO recently turned overĀ to Congress. NBC News on Tuesday reviewed more than 30 minutes of video from the roughly 48 hours surrounding the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, including video that showed Pelosi being led away from the building by her security detail as she pressed her staff members to get the National Guard to respond to the Capitol.
The newly surfaced remarks go further thanĀ the public onesĀ she made on Jan. 7, when she said Trump had āincited an armed insurrection against Americaā and āinstigatedā an attack that would āforever stain our nationās history.ā
And because there werenāt consequences on Trump, heāll do it again. Trump is working on it right now, soft or violent, legal or extra legal, heās working on it.
Thatās the reason I believe heād pardon the insurrectionists if he won. He needs them to return with friends in 2029.
