After months of unresolved negotiations, hotel workers with the UNITE HERE union walked off the job today at 24 hotels in eight cities: Boston, Greenwich, Honolulu, Kauai, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.
One of the foundational principles of a union is that it’s perfectly acceptable to do work that the company can’t survive on. The employee’s livelihood is more important than the livelihood of the employer’s. This is clarified by the term “Fuck you, Imma get mine”.
